The meeting, which took place over three days in Brussels in April 2026, focused on advancing inclusion across Europe for people with hearing loss.
The conference was held in the heart of European decision-making, bringing together hard of hearing community leaders, the European Commission, the European Parliament, civil society, academia and the tech industry. The programme also featured a demonstration of assistive listening systems, offering insights into innovative and potentially transformative listening experiences to participants.
In his presentation as part of a panel discussion on mainstreaming Inclusion and participation for hard of hearing people, Andrew highlighted the role of IAHA and legislation and standards concerning hearing accessibility.
IAHA’s contribution to EFHOH’s statement on assistive listening systems
IAHA also contributed to EFHOH’s statement on the need for assistive listening technologies to co-exist. The Position Statement on Public Procurement of Hearing Devices and their Accessibility Features has now been published and is available on EFHOH’s website.
